Mente Now Works in Telegram: Save Links, Voice Notes, and Get Todos From Your Chat
The biggest friction in any knowledge management system is getting stuff into it. You find an interesting article, but you're on your phone. You have a quick thought, but opening an app feels like too much. You're in a meeting and want to capture action items, but you're already in a conversation.
Mente now has a Telegram bot that solves all of this. Send a link, a voice note, or a text message. AI processes it and puts everything where it belongs.

What You Can Do
Save Links Instantly
Send any URL to the @getmente_bot and it gets saved to your Mente account. AI reads the full content, generates a summary, extracts key concepts, finds connections, and creates auto-generated todos if the content is actionable.
You get a notification when processing is done with the title, a summary, and any todos that were created. All without leaving Telegram.
Voice Notes That Become Structured Notes + Todos
This is the feature that changes everything. Record a voice note in Telegram. Mente transcribes it with AI, cleans up the text (removes filler words, adds structure), generates a smart title, and extracts any actionable items as todos.
Talk about your meeting, your day, your ideas. Say things like "I need to send the budget by Friday and check with the lawyer about the contract." Mente picks up the action items and puts them in your backlog.
Voice notes are limited to 60 seconds to keep things concise and costs reasonable.
Manage Your Todos
Type /todos to see your pending tasks grouped by Now and Backlog. Reply with a number to mark one as complete. Create new todos with /todo buy coffee right from the chat.
Search Your Knowledge
Type /search morning routines and Mente searches across everything you've saved: titles, summaries, key concepts, and full content. Results come with links to open each item in the app.
Explore Random Ideas
Type /random and get a random concept from your knowledge graph with related content. Good for when you're bored and want to rediscover something from your own brain.
Proactive Notifications
The bot doesn't just wait for you. Based on your preferences, it can:
Daily todo reminder. Every morning (at your chosen time), the bot sends your focus for the day. Your Now list and top Backlog items, ready to act on.
Weekly digest. Once a week, a summary of what you saved, what connections were found, and how many todos you completed.
Processing notifications. When a link finishes processing, the bot sends you the summary and any auto-generated todos right away.
All of this is configurable in Settings > Telegram within the app.

Why Telegram First
We chose Telegram as our first messaging integration because it has the best bot API, supports voice notes natively, and has a large audience of tech-savvy users who already use it as a productivity tool.
WhatsApp is coming next. The bot architecture is platform-agnostic. The core logic (save links, transcribe voice, extract todos) works the same way regardless of the messaging platform. Adding WhatsApp is a matter of building the provider, not rewriting the bot.
The Bigger Picture
The Telegram bot isn't just a "save from mobile" feature. It changes the relationship with your second brain.
Instead of opening an app when you want to save something, you just talk to your brain. Instead of checking a todo app, your brain reminds you. Instead of searching through bookmarks, you ask and get answers.
That's what a second brain should feel like. Not another app to maintain. A natural extension of how you already communicate.
FAQ
Is the bot free?
The bot is included in your Mente subscription ($4.99/mo). No extra cost.
Can other people send things to my bot?
No. The bot is linked to your account. Only messages from your linked Telegram account are processed.
What happens to my voice notes?
Voice notes are transcribed using OpenAI Whisper, then processed by GPT-4o to clean up the text and extract todos. The audio itself is not permanently stored. The structured transcript is saved as a note in your Mente account.
How do I change notification settings?
Go to Settings > Telegram in the app. You can toggle processing notifications, set todo reminder frequency and time, and enable/disable the weekly digest.
